*미국 어린이 프로그램 〈세서미 스트리트〉에는 쓰레기통 속에 사는 괴팍한 캐릭터 '오스카 더 그라우치(Oscar the Grouch)'가 등장한다.

세상은 투덜대는 개인(grouch)의 태도는 지적하지만, 정작 그를 그렇게 만든 열악한 환경(trashcan)은 외면한다는 날카로운 사회 비판이자, '환경 탓만 하며 불평하면 결국 무시당하니 스스로 빛이 되어 이겨내라'는 현실적인 조언이다.

*로마 제국에 맞서 싸운 고대 국가이자 명장 한니발의 고향

자신을 거대 자본(로마)에 대항하는 독립 예술가(한니발)에 비유하며, 펜(검)이 여전히 날카롭게 빛나고 있음을 과시한다. 또한 미국 중서부에 흔한 지명인 'Carthage'를 중의적으로 사용하여 자신의 지리적 뿌리를 암시하기도 한다.
