존 레논과 오노 요코는 베트남전쟁이 한창 진행 중이던 1969년에 결혼을 하였다. 그리고 전 세계의 이목을 집중시킨 자신들의 결혼을 '반전과 평화'의 메시지를 전달하는 퍼포먼스로 승화하게 된다. 자신들이 묵는 암스테르담의 힐튼 호텔 방에 기자들을 초대해 침대 위에서 3일 동안 그들의 인터뷰에 응하며 반전과 평화의 메시지를 전달하는 "Bed In" 퍼포먼스가 바로 그것이다.
