게다가 이스라엘 9대 왕 요람과 아합의 아들 70명도 모조리 죽여버리고, 자기 딸도 다른 왕국에 시집을 보내 그 왕국도 바알 숭배를 하게끔 만들었음

마지막 남아있던 선지자 엘리야도 죽이려 했지만 실패하고, 나중에 북이스라엘 왕국의 왕인 예후가 혁명을 일으켰고

이세벨도 자신의 내시들에 의해서 창 밖으로 내던져서 죽임을 당함

그래서 여기에서 나온 단어가 defenestration, 창 밖으로 내던지다, 축출, 해직을 의미함

 

jezebel은 나중에 미국까지 건너와서 흑인 차별 단어로도 쓰임

성적으로 문란하고, 오랑우탄처럼 강인한 체격을 지녀서 성관계를 아무리 해도 지치지 않는다 등과 같은 이유로 흑인 여성을 이렇게 부르기도 함)
