An ode to the black woman's body
흑인 여성의 몸에 대한 찬가
She's been through a lot
그녀는 많은 일을 겪었지
Years and years on end, she chose to keep on
몇 년간 그녀는 계속해서 사랑을
To hold on to love, then to love again
붙들고, 다시 사랑하기로 했고
Then to lose to love again
다시 패배하고 사랑을 했지
To hug black bodies like it's the last time
마지막인 것처럼 검은 몸을 안기 위해
Like, last time every time
마치, 매번 마지막인 것처럼
To bear baby after baby
아기를 배기 위해
Praying this time maybe they'll be birthed into safety
이번엔 안전한 장소에서 낳기를 기도하며
Ideally a place where someone can love them
이상적으로, 누군가 그들을 사랑할 수 있는 장소에서
Hoping this time, we can trust each other enough to tell one another our fears
이번에는, 서로에게 두려워하는 것을 말할 수 있을 정도로 믿을 수 있기를 바라며
I might start by saying, "I need you"
먼저 이 말부터 할지도 "네가 필요해"
When you go, I'm afraid to let you
네가 떠난다면, 그대로 보내기 두려워
I don't wanna survive alone again
다시 혼자 살아가기 싫어
Our bodies have become too familiar
우리 몸은 너무 익숙해졌어
With chance, with each other, with freedom
기회에, 서로에, 자유에
But never a chance to experience freedom with each other these days
하지만 요즘 함께 자유를 경험할 기회는 없었어
I'm tired of sharing your body between the world and me
너의 몸을 세상과 나 사이에 공유하는 건 질려
So, won't you promise this time, your body will make it home to me
그러니 이번엔 약속해줄래, 나에게로 네 몸을 돌아오게 하겠다고
To this love, to this unity
이 사랑, 이 하나됨에
To this journey we're supposed to be on together
우리가 함께 떠나야하는 이 여행에
Yesterday, tomorrow and forever, today
어제, 내일, 그리고 영원히, 오늘
I'll be waiting for our forever after
우리의 영원한 훗날을 기다릴 거야
Nobody tells you how to survive as a black woman
아무도 흑인으로써 살아남는 법을 가르쳐주지 않아
So let me learn you a lesson
그러니까 하나 가르쳐줄게
Black women, you are a threat on every point of the map
흑인 여성들, 너희는 지도 어느 지점에서도 위협적인 존재야
You are love, in its purest form, all unapologetic, all unconditional
너는 가장 순수한 형태의 사랑, 굽힐 줄 모르는, 무조건적인
Always too compassionate, sometimes too forgiving
언제나 동정심 많은, 가끔은 너무 용서를 잘 하는
But, never too afraid to show up
하지만, 절대 모습을 드러내기 두려워하지 않는
Black women, you are everything they knew you wouldn't be
흑인 여성들, 넌 그들이 네가 되지 못할 거라고 생각했던 모든 것
You are gorgeous, even through the suffering
너는 아름다워, 고통 속에서도
You needn't forget why
이유를 잊어버리지 않아도 돼
You hold the world together
세상을 하나로 묶어
Thank you for your mercy
너의 자비에 감사해
You are the strongest form of human
너는 가장 강한 형태의 인간
